Body Brushing: Benefits, precautions, and our tips
, Default
What is body brushing and what are its benefits?
The term body brushing refers to the practice of brushing the skin to make it healthier and more radiant. It’s a simple ritual that helps improve the skin’s appearance and overall health while offering a moment of self-care and relaxation.
Brushing can be done in the shower – known as Wet brushing – to enhance cleansing and exfoliation, leaving the skin more luminous. The brush helps distribute the cleanser evenly, removing dead skin cells and impurities. The gentle massage promotes healthier skin and provides a unique moment of well-being.
However, brushing can also be done on dry skin – this is called Dry brushing. In this case, the body brushing is more intense and supports both lymphatic drainage and blood circulation.
What are the precautions?
Although body brushing has many benefits, it’s not suitable for everyone. There are some precautions to consider to avoid harming the skin.
• Skin conditions
If you have specific dermatological conditions such as dermatitis or psoriasis, it’s best to consult your dermatologist first to avoid worsening an already delicate situation.
• Sensitive skin
If you have sensitive skin, brushing may cause irritation or redness. In this case, it’s better to avoid it or use extra care when brushing. We recommend opting for wet brushing and avoiding excessive pressure.
• Pregnancy and sensitive areas
During pregnancy, certain areas of the body become more sensitive and prone to irritation. In this case, it's best to avoid brushing the belly and breast area.
Team Tek's tips
• Don’t apply too much pressure: brushing should stimulate, not scratch.
• Avoid daily brushing: 2–3 times per week is enough.
• Always moisturize the skin after brushing.
