Our Mission
Our company was founded in 1977. Our founder, Giulio Valsecchi, approached the Italian market with a patented and unique product: a brush with wooden pins. The choice of wood as the material was inspired by its specific properties that enhance the hair’s beauty, health and volume
Guided by tradition, embracing innovation
Our products are entirely made in Italy and our production criteria are controlled and certified. Unlike plastic brushes, which are normally defective, polluting and damaging to the hair, we use natural wood and pure rubber to ensure gentle brushing that protects and fortifies the hair.
1977
1977: The company was founded in 1977 by Giulio Valsecchi, entering the Italian market with a patented and unique product: a brush with wooden pins.
1990
1990: Tek was immediately recognised as an innovative and winning company, to the point where in 1990, Tek products were displayed at the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York.
2003
2003: All products in the Ceramik line are tested by ISTEC-CNR (Institute of Science and Technology for Ceramics – National Research Council), which certifies that the products are coated with aluminium oxide ceramic material.
2004
2004: In 2004, Tek was acknowledged in the Honour Selection at the international Gran Design exhibition at the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.
2007
2007: Since 2007, TEK products have been certified with the FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) mark, identifying products containing wood from sustainably and responsibly managed forests in accordance with strict environmental, social and economic standards.
2016
2016: In 2016, TEK abandoned the use of plastic in its packaging too, which since then has been made entirely of recyclable cardboard.
2017
2017: In March 2017, TEK received the prestigious B Corp® certification. B Corp® companies are those that choose to undergo a meticulous evaluation process determining their ability to uphold social, environmental, accountability and transparency standards.
2018
2018: In December 2018, TEK acquired VEGANOK certification, the first and only marking for Ethical Vegan products created in Italy, which guarantees the absence of animal-derived parts within the product.
2021
2021: TEK has been a Benefit Corporation since 2021. This is a statutory status that also legally certifies the values we have always embraced and which, in 2017, led us to obtain B Corp certification.
2022
2022: In November 2022, TEK entered the pet care market, launching the new WIDU® brand, a selection of pet brushes combining the best of the brand’s distinctive characteristics: quality raw materials and the exquisite craftsmanship of Italian-made brushes.
